BMD lookup - Casey family

Hello - I'm looking for help in getting specific references for some Casey births 1860-1867, mother Jessie Casey (nee Gardner), father Martin Casey. At least 4 children known - Jessie, David, Martin and James - perhaps more.

Were they Scots?  IGI marriage:

Don't know whether Jessie was born in Scotland, but if so I have found this interesting entry on 1881 Census:

Umbrella Manufacture is an occupation often though not always associated with travelling folk  ie gypsies.  If that's her, I'd be looking for death of Martin in Isle of Man post 1872

You didn't say where they came from but if they were travelling folk, they might be hard to find.   West Derby in part of Lancashire district (now administered by North Liverpool.)

I should have added that Jessie and Martin married in Dumfries in 1854. She had lived in Whithorn. Martin Casey was from Co Roscommon, and was described as a cuttler. Jessie's father was a clockmaker, born near Whithorn, but most of his children were born in Aberdeen. Jessie's mother was from Berwickshire. The geography of all of this has been baffling - perhaps the travellers idea provides an explanation.

I had wanted to try and learn the civil registration references for the IOM births in the hope of learning a little more of an elusive family. Jessie was my great great great grandmother.

Hi Ian,

Cutlers were also often travellers - seems likely as the children were born in such distant geographical areas.
There's a dedicated board for travellers here on Rootschat.......

It's little known that there was also a potato famine in the Highlands of Scotland 1846-1857, it devistated the highland rural economy and caused enforced movement around the country as well as emigration.

&   a  handful of other   Caseys.

For   Elizabeth   ---compulsory  registration  of   births  did   not  start  till   1878.   You  could  look for  a   baptism  .

Was  she   Catholic

Her descendants were/are Catholics but have no specific information on that.

She   lived  in  Duke  Street  Douglas   surrounded  by   Protestant  Churches  &   so  as   not  on  IGI  baptisms  thought
family  must  be   Catholic.   Dissenting  baptisms  only  on   line   IOM  fhs  until  1849.  But  I   can  get  access  to
a  photocopy  of  register.  St   Mary's  church  only   a   few  hundred  yards  away.They   did   not  allow   LDS  church
[Mormons]  to  film  the  records.
