Hi CU

When did John and Ann marry?  I see Martha Hughs mother-in-law was with him in 1871, and her daughter Martha, was that Ann's maiden name, as I can't see her with the Hughs family in 1851?
I was wondering if Ann was his second wife, married after 1871

Ann married John Palmer June 1854

She was a widow so she is under the surname Jones.

Thank you Barbara for your help. I will go into town this week and try

and find her on the Libray computer. It's funny that she is missing off two census

returns.

Do you not think that Ann Farmer may be a possibility then?  Misheard by the enumerator?  John was a miner, and she's a miner's wife, right age and birthplace.  Of course it could be coincidence.

I thought she might be ill long-term, missing from both census, as her mother and sister are living with her husband in 1871, seems odd that she wouldn't be there.  However, I've looked through the same infirmary in the 1861 census and can't see her then.

Did they have any children, and do you have her death certificate showing cause of death?

I don't know if it is her or not. I may try and see if I can find a Ann Farmer on the 1861 or 1881 census returns.
It could be her.

Old age was on her death certificate  ::) not very helpful.

They didn't have any children.
John was my great grandmother (x3) brother
Thanks for all your help.
