Hercules Theophilius Byrnes is listed in 1888 with mother just listed as Frances Ann, also Kempsey district.  When he dies his father is listed as Walter Patrick, though.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~garter1/franann.htm
 - this suggests that Frances first married Philip Borger, then later Patrick Byrnes.
Philip may  have died in 1893.
http://srwww.records.nsw.gov.au/indexes/keyname_search.asp - shows a deceased estate for him.

26596/1888 is listed as the birth certificate reference for both Erculas T Borger AND Hercules Theophilius Byrnes.

I think it might be quite hard to sort this family out!

Hi,

There are a few BORGER births: Parents Philip moth r Frances A

12868/1869   CLARA                 MACLEAY RIVER
11129/1867   AGNES A           MACLEAY RIVER
24347/1885   RUBY O              KEMPSEY
26596/1888   ERCULAS T       KEMPSEY
17534/1890   HENRIETTA       KEMPSEY

then there is this in the  same area  father Walter CHAPMAN
mother Frances A
17080/1880   MARY JANE      MACLEAY RIVER

and not in the area: Father John mother Frances

19923/1873      CHAPMAN   FRANCES MARIAN  WAGGA WAGGA
23609/1878      CHAPMAN   FRANK W                WAGGA WAGGA

certainly the births all sit together in order and allow for the familty be moving around.

There are lots of Chapman and Byrnes in the Macleay River area. They have similar names to the people on your list and I repeat the question asked by Tropicalj
"where did you get the list from?"

regards

Robyn

The first list was found in NSW BDM under Byrnes/Burns/Chapman.
The sencond time round I found a wep page for The Chapman Family Tree"
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~garter1/chapman1.htm
Thsi site has the names as Borger, as it seems now that Frances Ann was married twice. Firstly Borger (deceased) , then Byrnes.  But! my g grandmother is still missing. Frances Maude Ethel Byrnes b1885c Euroka. I have sent an e-mail off to the owner of the page asking for info. No reply yet. Im also looking into history of the local church to get baptism record. (unfortunately it is a convict built church and its not in use today) the record I hope are with the historic soc.

Hi,

It is certainly a good idea to contact the local church authorities. Sometimes it can be most rewarding as it sems not all baptismal records made it to the capitol cities to be transcribed.

Do you have Walter or Frances Anne's Byrnes death certificates?

Is it possible that tese might be their death regos?
WICKHAM 1919  #6706    BURNS      FRANCES A parents  JOHN & SARAH A
CASINO   1913 #1335      BURNS      WALTER P parents  PETER &     ROSANNA M

MACLEAY RIVER  1866    #2261 BORGER  PHILLIP    To  CHAPMAN   FRANCES A

A copy of her marriage to Walter Patrick Byrne may also list her children. I can't find one on the NSW index.

The only marraige for a  Walter or Patrick Byrnes/Burns to a Frances is: only
INVERELL 1874 #2685     BYRNES      PATRICK to HUGHES  FRANCES ANNE    and there are births to this couple in Inverell so it is not your W.P Byyrnes and Frances Anne, Chapman Bolger.

There are two deaths for phillip Borger one as you say in 1893 but one much earlier in 1882. Tempting to take the later one but it amy have been the earlier one. Widows sometimes had children from liaisons after their spouses death.

You may have to get both certificates to sort his out.

regards

Robyn

Hi sharpi58,

Frances Maud Ethel Byrnes was my grandfather’s sister.
Her parents were Frances (Fanny) Ann Byrnes/Burns née Chapman and a guy who seems to have gone by a few different names: Walter Patrick Byrnes, Patrick Walter, John Patrick Byrnes, Patrick Byrnes, John Byrnes.

Fanny was married to two blokes at the same time. She married Patrick under the assumed name of Hughes in 1874 whilst still married to Phillip Borger.
You can find this info on wikitree
I will attach a photo of her.

To Byrnes 2541, please please please tell me all you know about the Aboriginal side of the family.
James George Byrnes aka James Patrick Byrnes was my mother’s father. I never met him. Mum died nigh on 50 years ago so I can’t ask her. I have attached a photo of him from Trove.

Happy to share the little I know
Cheers
Ngaire
