BETTS of Birmingham

Hi out there,

I was wondering if anyone else was researching the name Betts from Birmingham.  In particular:-

Edwin Betts                1813       
Joanna Magarite         1815
Sara Anna                   1816
Reuben                       1818
George                        1819
Augustine                    1821
Joseph                         1823


They were all baptised at St Peters R-C Birmingham, their parents were William and Elizabeth, she was born in Worcester around 1780, I have no further information about him. At this point I am stumped and cannot go any further back. Any information or advice as to what sites might be useful regarding records look ups would be greatly appreciated.

The baptisms are all on the IGI at www.familysearch.org


They are all under the Latin translation of the names;

eg, George, Georgius
      Edwin, Edwinus
The parents are GUIELMI and ELIZABETHAE, quite beautiful

All the children are baptised at Saint Peters R.C. Church, Birmingham.

Searching for a marriage just before birth of first child 1813 the only one I could come up with is this;

Elizabeth ADCOCK
William BETTS
28 December 1809, Saint Phillips, Birmingham, Warwickshire
Remember this may not be correct, just the only possible one I found.

Looking for a baptism of William I went for this one as it is in Birmingham and at same Church children were baptised at;

William BETTS
11 March 1788
St Peters R.C. Church, Birmingham, Warwickshire
Parents, THOMAE and ANNAE


There are plenty of others you can check out for yourself. If you enter Guilemi it gives you William so it must be the Latin which I did not know

So just in case it went astray, thought I ought to post another.

Found your info really useful as was close to giving up, took your point it might not be correct but will continue to find out where St Peters R-C records went as the church was sold and demolished.
