Looking at the original page it seems that Rena is spot on - there are definitely two words. Several other entries say just 'Miner'. It's the first letter that puzzles me - on that page, and the following there are entries that look more like T miner. But possibly it was just careless writing?

Yes I agree too- on the next page he seems to have written L Miner???

And there don't seem to be other occupations that indicate colliery work in the area, do there?

I've studied the pages before and after this entry in the census and I think it must be coal miner. If you look at other pages you can see L M and C M or C Miner  and L Miner (Lead Miner). They wouldn't shorten Cottoner (which was my initial thought) to C M.
