Please may I beg further assistance from you regarding my many x g grandfather's Will?  In this excerpt, am I right in thinking he was leaving her some of his best milking cows - or am I totally off the mark?

Also, the next line might as well be in Martian for all the sense  it makes to me; but I do manage to recover myself by the time it gets to the properties!

So far I make it:

Item I give and bequeath unto the said Susan my wife five of my best milking cowes that she can or shall chose and of my Dayrie of C---[?] to dispose of as she pleaseth

I believe a Pightell or Pightle is a small paddock

I think John Pearle is being rather cautious here: in  my first post he gives his bedding, linen, woollens, brass and pewter to Susan for her life, and then to be divided between their sons.  Now she gets some freehold and copyhold land with similar constraints.  How very kind of him to let her have unencumbered cows!
