I was wondering if someone has access to the 1920 US Census that would kindly look to see if my great grandfather is listed on it.  I don't have a full subscription on Ancestry.

My great grandfather, Richard Thomas Cross b. 1877 Buckinghamshire, England went to live with his sister-in-law, Alice Girdwood and her husband Robert Templeton Girdwood in Illinois after the death of his wife Maria in Australia in 1916.  My grandad, Robert George Cross b. 1911 Wales and his sister Clara Cross b. 1907 England, grew up in the US, I believe they lived at 519 Spruce Street, Aurora, Illinois.

Would someone be able to look up these names on the 1920 Census for me please?  Thank you.

Michelle

I haven't had any luck finding them on the 1920 Census, but I found Richard's WWI Draft Registration card if you need that.

Really??  I had no idea he was drafted up.  Yes I'd love that if you have it.

All men of a certain age were required to fill out draft registration cards, but it doesn't mean he was necessarily drafted.

It's pretty blurry, but appears to say:
Richard Thomas Cross
238 Gal(something) Ave., Aurora, Kane Co., Ill.
Age 41, born 2 Aug. 1877
White, non-declarant alien, citizen of Great Britain
Occupation:  Brick Layer, C.B. & Q. Ry., Aurora, Kane Co., Ill.
Nearest relative:  Daughter Clara Cross (age 11), same home address
Medium height & build, dark brown hair, blue eyes, no deformities
Dated 12 Sep. 1918

Thank you very much for all your help.

I know the family went to the UK after the US so maybe by 1920 they had already left.

Thanks again.
