Hi possette and welcome to rootschat.  ;D

There will need  to be  quite a bit of homewrok to find out when and where they are buried...
Do you have their full names and dates of death? Do you know which church they attended?
If they were buried a 100 yrs ago they could well be in the big public cemeteries that were being buit about 1860s to cope with influx of people into the big towns and no room for burials left in local church graveyards.

If you can give us some more facts- names, dates, places for your people someone here may be able to help...  :)

Welcome to Roots Chat, possette !   :)

I don't want to discourage you, but you shouldn't assume that your ancestors will have gravestones, so be prepared for possible disappointment.  My ancestors on my mother's side all came from the same small area in Suffolk, so when I first started researching my tree, I thought a quick trip around the church yards in the locality would tell me all I needed to know.  In a whole day's searching, I came up with one gravestone bearing my grandmother's maiden name, and that was a cousin of hers.  The sad truth is that many of our ancestors were too poor to have gravestones.

I wish you luck with your search, and I hope you fare better than I did  :)

RIP 1949-10th January 2013

Best Wishes,  Nick.

Hi Possette

Welcome to RootsChat.

I f you have not already done so take a look at what the Genuki site has to say about Lancashire and its towns and parishes.  As an example West Derby is described at

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/WestDerby/

Good luck

Hi,

Another warm welcome from me too.

You may also want to take a look at www.lan-opc.org.uk as there are some burials online.  Especially for St. Mary`s Prescot.

Mo
