I am looking for more info on a Henry Baker born c1836 at Ardingley, Sussex, wife Edith c1841 and children:
Anna c1861 Tunbridge, kent
Merry c1861 Tunbridge, kent
Charlotte Lottie b1864 tunbridge, died 1907
Emily c1868 Woolwich, tunbridge, kent
Mercy c1871 woolwich, tunbridge, kent

on the original 1871 page, Merry is actually Mercy too !

Just looked at it, and it does look as if it the same, can't be two the same name in the family can there?

doubt it - couldnt see a Birth Regn either - prob Enumerators error, copying out the schedules by candlelight and got mixed up.

Have you found any of them 1881 onward ?  ::)

I couldnt see Henry pre-1871 either   ???

If the 1-month old 'Mercy' was indeed born in Woolwich, the family must have only just arrived in Tonbridge / Tunbridge area ....

I couldnt see any deaths 1871-1881 either, nor remarriages which might have changed the kids surnames ....

didnt look in 1901 tho, as assumed any survivors would have married by then ...

I can't find anything on them before that census or after, until Charlotte baker comes into the picture, she married Alma Thomas Goldsmith who was a Hawker at one time. they married 1883 march 12th.

This could well be his birth - Ardingley is in this District ...

I think that lad is in Lindfield - father John, a Baker ....

Theres only 1 Baker family in 1841 Ardingly, the lad the right sort of age is a Peter ......
