Young of Fetteresso 1762
« on: Thursday 21 May 09 19:28 BST (UK) »
I hope someone can help as this is my first ever posting on a site.
I have got back to a William Young on the OPR births 1762 -  son of William Young Sheriff Clerk in Bridgend of Stonehaven but have no idea of where to go next.
Has anyone an idea of what this role was or entailed?
Any and all assistance will be gratefully received
Thanks

Hi Berty

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

This post on another forum seems connected:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Stonehaven_Genealogy/message/1247

There is a possible entry on the last Will & Testament section of Scotlands People /www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk for William Young Snr.:

William Young,   08/08/1816, Esq., sheriff clerk of Kincardine, at Mill Forest - Inventory and Valuation at St Andrews Commissary court, Ref.    CC20/7/8

Monica

Thank you very much for your help.  I have looked at the other forum which does appear to be connected as you suggested and also have downloaded the Will of William which is fascinating.

Thank you again
