Hi BMikeW, welcome to RootsChat :)

His baptism is to be found at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

21 April 1839 at Amcotts, son of Henry and Mary

Perhaps his parents were Henry DREWRY and Mary JACKSON who married at nearby West Halton 24 Nov 1836
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Many thanks for the very prompt reply.  Interesting how the name Drury has changed during the years.  Doesn't make things easy but keeps us on our toes.

Hi BMikeW

I know what you mean about the spelling of Drury, I have them in my family tree from Lincolnshire, took me nearly 10 years to find one of them, cos of the different way it is spelt on census sheets ;D ;D

Where are your Lincs Drury / Drewry / Druory's from?  I have them in "Scunthorpe", Burringham, Luddington, Aldingfleet, Gunhouse, Amcotts.
Any pearls of wisdom to pass on?
Regards, Mike

The marriage details, available from the FreeReg site, gives the abode of both bride and groom as Gunhouse (sic) - although their parish is listed as West Halton.

William Drury / Druory was born in Amcotts [IGI and census confirms this]. Baptised 21st April 1839.
William’s parents were Henry Druory and Mary [IGI fact]
Henry Drewry was baptised 30th May 1818 Luddington [IGI fact].  Census confirms Henry Drury DOB 1818, Luddington.
Henry’s parents were George Drewry and Elizabeth [IGI fact].
George [aged 50] and Elizabeth Drury living in Amcotts [1841 census].
George Drury [aged 59] born in Gunhouse [1851 census].

Your Gunhouse connection for Henry Drewry makes perfect sense and confirms nicely Geoff-E’s possible Mary Jackson of West Halton being William’s mother.  I had initially thought this unlikely as West Halton is the east side of the Trent and everything I had gleaned so far centred around the north Isle of Axholme.

Thanks Col and Geoff.
