At last, hopefully a site that can help me. Some years ago I decided to trace my mothers side as her maiden name was quiet unusual..FREAKELY.
I managed to get as far back as her grandfather..a great name..SHADRACH FREAKLEY, only to find that he resided with his Grandparents, so I could not find out who Shadrachs father was, I cannot not find shadrachs birth either and thats where I gave in.
Have now taken up the interest agian and hope this site can hel or direct me which way to go.

Do you know anything else about Shadrach?  Approximate year of birth?  Have you got him on any census'? HIS Grandfather's name?

The only Shadrach Freakley that I can find was married Sep Quarter 1898 at Stoke on Trent (6b 457) to either Mary Gilbert or Elizabeth Ann Bennett.

Unless he was illegitimate obtaining the birth certiicate should tell you the father's name.

It looks like he married Mary Gilbert as he is with  wife on 1901 Census.

On 1881 and 1891 Census he was living with grandparents

You need the MARRIAGE cert.

Thats great, daft question, but how do i get hold of shadrachs (love the name) birth certificate?

I found an old message when I googled Shadrach freakley, born approx 1874 in Millmeece Swynnerton?

Swynnerton is in the Stone reg district and the only Freakley registered in that year in Stone is Fred Livingstone    

Ok found him in 1881 on family search (I don't have other census access)

If he was born pre 1875 registration was not compulsory so he might not have a birth certificate.

You can order marriage cert online. That should give you father's name.

The 1901 census shows he was an Ag lab age 27 living in Ecleshall born at Cotes Staffordshire.

Mary was age 30 born Croxton Staffs

Children

William Gilbert age 4 born Croxton
Beatrice M age 2 born Eccleshall
Ada age 1 born Eccleshall
