Reilly and Jordan from Aghabog Parish
« on: Tuesday 26 May 09 01:15 BST (UK) »
My great great-grandparents were James Reilly and Catherine Jordan.  All of their children; John, Patrick, Francis, Joseph, Bridget and Mary were baptized in Aghabog Parish from 1826 through 1838.  Catherine and the children immigrated to America in 1850 except John who immigrated three years earlier.  I was wondering if there is any way of finding out what happened to James Reilly, anything on his family, anything on Catherine Jordan's family or just anything at all about this family.  Thank you.

Hmmm... I wonder if we're related. I have a great, great-grand father named David Reilly who lived in Aghabog Parish during that time frame. Do you know what townland your James Reilly lived in? According to the Tithe Applotment Survey of 1832, there were two James Reilys [sic] living in Aghabog. One was in the townland of Aghareagh and the other in Corramegan.

Shawn,
No, I don't have that information.  James Reilly apparently died in Ireland because he did not immigrate with his wife and children.  All I know is that his wife would have been Catherine Jordan.  She (and all of the children) have County Monaghan, Ireland on their tombstones.  Thank you for replying, it was good to hear from someone that may be related.
