Help I'm Stuck!
« on: Wednesday 27 May 09 11:46 BST (UK) »
Could anybody out there offer some assistance?  I've been trying to trace some ancestors from Stoke on Trent but have reached a gap between the 1841 census and the parish records CD which I ordered but it only goes up to 1812... don't really know what to do, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

Hi and welcome to rootschat.

You cansearch the IGI, as suggested, by going to the familysearch  site.  G**gle for familysearch.

Let us know how you get on... and don't forget what Mum said in the earlier post here- if you give some names and dates maybe someone can help .

Hi there,
Well I tried the fmily search and found JOHN HAWLEY - International Genealogical Index / BI
Gender: Male Christening: 27 JAN 1792 Rugeley, Stafford, England
But I'm not sure how I can find out if this is the John Hawley that I have from my family tree as being born in 1792 in Longton..

John Hawley is the father of the main person I am interested in - Felix Hulme Hawley, b abt 1820, m 1844, d 1891.  It would seem most of Felix's life events occured in Longton / Fenton as did the birth of all his children.

Thanx all for your suggestions, please keep them coming!

Hi C,
If your John Hawley was alive in 1851 the cenus would show where he was born  and this would rule in or out the IGI entry you found.
