Hi Julie,

chipping away  - well done!

There is a birth for Wilfred Owen Turner 1893 and I found a Wilfred D Turner where the 'D' could be 'O' at
1901 RG13; Piece: 5177; Folio: 32; Page: 27

parents Thomas and Emma who have a pub in Castle Street Hay but at the moment can't find a marriage- think the one that comes up is too early nor can I find a connection yet.

I found  a marriage 1883- Thomas Turner and Emma Chambers -Merthyr T.

Eventually found that in 1861 there is an Emma Chambers with same birth details as Emma Turner at

1861 RG9; Piece: 4224; Folio: 67; Page: 6

but as yet have no idea what connection this could all be  ???

I haven't put all census details in as I think you have access, Julie?

Ha, ha!

Marriage:

1913 Hay

Wilfred O Turner and Florence E Beavan  ;D

That's why he is a nephew  ;)

Thank goodness!

Now as far as your request re addresses after the census - you could do something with the Electoral Rolls but not online I doubt. You would have to contact the local library or Local History Centre I would imagine.

By the way- in 1901 census and Turners, a son is a 'draper's assistant' - a lot of them about  :D

good luck

WOW once again, thanks for all that info.

Getting a bit late to digest all the bits now, so I'm off for a nightcap and hopefully will be refreshed enough in the morning to start all over again.  Trouble is I get so confused and start looking for everything all at once.  Must get more organised.....some hope!!

Couldn't resist looking up the 1901 census to see where I'd gone wrong......must have looked straight through the Turners cos I can remember thinking there was a Theodore (love that name) and only two above good old Wilfred......so thanks for directing me.  Think I get blinded after a while.  Also, why do I always have the worst handwriting to look through!!

Must have been all the go being a Draper's Asst.!!

Hi Julie,

If you do decde to apply for the birth certificate for Anne/Annie you could apply to the local Registration office at Hay. You should have enough details for them to find a single entry, as she was probably born 72/73 in Hay and her father wasn't Edwin.

Hope this isn't boring you lot too much, but I've had it confirmed that Elizabeth Ward who lived in Hambridge Lane Lechlade, was indeed the daughter of John & Elizabeth Holloway who "adopted" Phyllis Mabel.  Unfortunately, the info has come from a distant relative/ancestor of John Holloway's mother - he was the son of this lady's g.g.grandmother's sister.  I was really hoping for a closer relative but she sounds very nice and a keen "searcher" and was very interested in the story...so who knows!

Didn't do a lot of this yesterday but am going to investigate Elizabeth Ward nee Holloway a bit more to see if there is a connection there with Annie.

Hope your days are good.....

Julie
