Hi Mary,

I am a member of Genes Reunited, have updated my tree, only in the last
few days, hoping for some matches.

I do appreicate your help, as you will see from my reply to spidermonkey,
I have recently found a relative here in Australia.

She has been a great help, and was the one who suggested I get involved
in the Rootschat, I won't give up, although there have been times when
have felt like it.

You have been very helpful, thank you, please contact anytime.

Norma.

Spider Monkey,

Just an after thought, George Vincent Rooney is my grandfathers son, by
his first marriage, he had two brothers, Thomas and Alfred.

George b. 1880. Thomas 1882 and Alfred 1885 from memory.

Did you find any information on George, Thomas attended my grandfathers
funeral in 1935, from the obituary in the Southport Visitor of 30 th November
that year.

Norma.

So far I haven't come across anything on George.  Alfred is on the 1911, and may possibly have been killed in WW1 (a memorial stone is in Sheffield Cemetery).

George Vincent Rooney is on the 1911 too, also in Sheffield.

Other Rooneys in the same household (through using the free search) are:
Elizabeth Rooney aged 22 and Ada Eileen Rooney aged 6 weeks

That is very interesting, Alfred being on the 1911 census, I should imagine
if the memorial is in Sheffield, it would be the same person, as my great grandfather
Thomas Rooney settled there with the extended family, after he left the army.

Do you have a date of his death, I would imagine his father Michael would have
been there for the memorial, can you please help me, how will I get details of the
Memorial in Sheffied, is there a web site.

Could be even one of my grandfathers many brothers, sure there was an Alfred. he named his sons after his family.

Regards
Norma.

How sad, will have to look up the military records, my Uncle Joe, mums
brother, Robert Joseph Rooney was killed in WW11 1943 in scily.

Seems to have a lot of losses in both sides of the family.

Thank you
Norma.
