Of this parish?
« on: Thursday 28 May 09 13:04 BST (UK) »
Hi, when someone is described as 'of this parish' in a marriage register, what does it actually mean?

Does it mean they were born there, or just that they had lived there for a while? Does it indicate that this was their legal place of settlement for poor law purposes?

Thanks for any help  :)

It indicates a 3- weeks residency.
