Thank you again.
Found her burial at Egremont in 1921 a widow.
Edward death June 1918.

Would the 1841 census show Mary with her parents or John - can't seem to find appropriate IGI records yet for their births ?

In 1881 a young Uncle James Duair 21 years was staying with Thomas and Sarah at Drummond Street. Egremont. He to was born in Ireland.  Any trace of him. I know the Irish records are not brilliant or pretty much non-exist so I am not holding out much hope of getting any further down the Cronin line.

Best Wishes.

Sorry to say there seems to be at least one other contender for Sarah Jane Atkinson:

1851
HO107/2437 302 32
Cleator, Cumberland
Cleator Moor

Richard Atkinson, head, 25, Coal Miner, b. Whitehaven
Jane, wife, 25, b. do.
Sarah Jane, dau, 1, b. do.

Many thanks.

Looks like 2 births for Catherine Cronin at Whitehaven - slight variation in the spelling Catherine Cronian 1885
Catherine Cronin Sept 1888.
The second Catherine 1888 probably belongs to Thomas & Sarah - with her remarried mother she is 12 on the 1901 census.

Could someone please look at the other Catherine for me to see who her parents are ?
Also a Peter Cronin Sept 1890.

Think that both of these families are linked.

A million thanks for all this help.

Interestingly, their father is a Francis married to a Mary, but he's older than the one we were searching for

1891
RG12/4316 116 12
Lowside Quarter, Cumberland
Middletown
Gill House?

Francis Cronnin, head, 36, Iron Ore Miner, b. Ireland
Mary, wife, 38, b. Scotland
Mary A, dau, 9, scholar, b. Egremont
Maggie, dau, 8, scholar, b. do.
Catherine, dau, 6, scholar, b. do.
Lizzie, dau, 4, b. do.
Francis, son, 2, b. do.
Peter, son, 1, b. Lowside Quarter

I found Thomas and Sarah in 1891 and it does give a birth county for Thomas but I'm having trouble making it out. Sending PM  :)

If someone else wants to have a look, the reference is RG12/4318 111 58

Hello

From the way the enumerator writes some of his "dittoes" and from an entry higher up on the page, for a Sarah McLinden, I would tend to agree with this particular transcription, that the birth place is meant to be County Down.

Although the transcriber got the surname totally wrong I think that he or she might have got the birth place right.

Well done Tati for finding the entry in the first place with the name presented as Orimen instead of Cronin.

A very big thank you for finding that one - I did'nt know what spelling it had been found under.
That is absolutely amazing.  Perhaps I can try the Ireland board to see if we can find out anymore.

Tati you are a STAR.

Best Wishes.
