MEEKING(S) of Foxearth
« on: Friday 29 May 09 15:14 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out the family of Sarah MEEKING, who was born about 1800, and who married an ancestor of mine, William BRYNING, in London in 1823.

I am aware that Charles MEEKING was born in Foxearth in about 1800 - he ended up sireing a wealthy family who took over the Richings Park estate in Buckinghamshire in the 1850s (source 1861 census for Iver, Bucks).  Some family (flimsy) evidence has it that Sarah was related to this family.  So - was Sarah MEEKING born in Essex, in Foxearth, in about 1800 i.e sister to Charles?  If I could get that link it would open up a whole new line!

Anyone shed any light on this one?  I am going to copy this to the Suffolk thread as I know Foxearth is right on the border.

Hi

The 1841 has William and Sarah Bryning living in Hillingdon Middlesex with their children. It gives Sarah's place of birth as Middlesex.

Rosie,
Many thanks for pointing me towards that entry which I had missed (the index as served up by ancestry.co.uk had not thrown that up on a straight sarah bryning 1841 entry!).  That certainly is my Sarah as William is a Hair Cutter - he went on to be a fairly upmarket Hairdresser in the West End!

Hepburn,
Thanks also for that one - Lowestoft is a long way from Middlesex - and indeed Foxearth! But could be.

So in order to eliminate/verify Charles Meeking as a link - who were his parents?  Born in Foxearth - must be traceable?  Not however on the IGI.

Not great with geography but this entry stood out;

Charles MEEKINS
Birth 11 April 1806
Christened 9 November 1806, Meeting House Independ, Billericay, Essex
Parents William and Sarah

On same batch sister Sarah Meekings but born 1811 ( too late for yours)
