Faint handwriting

I have just downloaded a service record from the archives.

Some of the writing is o'k but some of it is so faint i cannot make out the words.

Does anyone know of a way to make it readable or am i asking the impossible. I suppose i am thinking of 'tricks' used for reading markings on headstones etc!!  poli.

What format is the download in ?  If it is a graphics format (jpg, tiff, gif etc) you could use a graphics programme like photoshop / paintshop pro / the gimp, to play around with brightness & contrast levels.

Thanks for the suggestion robbo43, i've managed a better copy and have put the result on a another board. poli
