Do Not fear - I have found a third Richard Milliship - and this one IS yours! And has George and Louisa too.

Still in Birchyfield lane, and all else ties up nicely too, apart from Richard being a little generous with his ageing.

I think that one could be the one.  Richard & Eliza must have had George & Louisa before they married because they didn't marry until 1863.  Unless of course there is another Eliza.

I have John's (1866) birth certificate and it does show he was born to Richard Millership & Eliza Oliver in Rowley Regis.

Hi,

Sorry to bring this back up again but could anyone find the family in the above post on the 1861 census please.

I have now ordered Richard Millership & Eliza Oliver's marriage certificate from 1863 so hopefully it will tell me if Richard was a widower or not.

I'm wondering if this is Richard with a previous wife

1861
RG9/2023 52 2
Oldbury, Staffordshire
Portway? Rd

Richard Millership, head, 32, Miner, b. Oldbury Worcestershire
Mary do., wife, 26, b. Trimply? Worcestershire
George E do., son, 4 (weeks or months?), b. Oldbury Worcestershire
Jhon? do., boarder, 19 (male), Coal Miner, b. do.

Sorry, I'm having trouble with the handwriting!

This would suggest that Louisa belonged to Eliza - which makes sense as I believe she's actually shown as Louisa O Millership in 1871.

I am hoping his might be th emissing link - though the age for little Louisa is way out, and clear as 9 on the image...

rG9 2059 79 37
Potters Field, Dudley

Thomas Oliver 64 miner
Jane 63
Eliza 25 dtr
Louisa 9 dtr       all bn Dudley

what do you think? Could this be Eliza with Louisa? At the same time Richard is married to Mary and has George. Mary dies, Richard married Eliza and they form the family you have, and have several more children.

Thanks all for unravelling the mystery and it was definitely worthwhile getting the certificate of Richard & Eliza.

So do we think that Louisa is Eliza's daughter from a previous relationship and that George is the son of Richard from his marriage to Mary.

I shall let you know what the certificate shows.

That is what it is looking like. Possibly.

Hello again,

I have the marriage certificate of Richard Millership & Eliza Oliver now.

I can't make out the month unfortunately.

Richard is 34 and Eliza is 27.

They were bachelor & spinster.  I think Richard's occupation says "miner".
Their residence at the time of marriage was Whiteheath.

Richard's father is Job Millership and Eliza's is Thomas Oliver and both fathers occupation's were miner.

Witnesses were John Millership and a lady by the surname Cartwright.

I was expecting Richard to be widower but apart from that i don't think it really helps me.
