Hi Jen - hope I am using this correctly :-)  The date I have for arrival in Australia is 1884.  Itis many years since I started my research so I cannot really remember where I got that date from.  Sometimes they used to write "how long in the colonies" on a death certtificate.  For some reason I have just started looking at research again - God save me.  Ken

Kenreb

Hope you are using a transcription agent as they are certainly quicker and a lot cheaper,  that will appease the wife!!!

Hi Ken

My better half, yes she who must be obeyed, lol, is the granddaughter of Michael Hanify, he was brought up by John and Ellen and born in Roma Qld circa 1901. Her name is Deb and grew up in Yenda NSW and she thinks you will know of her as she has a cousin Ken and perhaps u are he and either way, we would luv to get in touch with you if possible. We have checked the Hanify discussion board which has answered many of her questions. She did not know much about her grandfathers family but we do have his marriage cert to Ellen Rose Arnold from 1956. They are both deceased now as are Debs mother and father. Deb has no pics of John or Ellen or their children born in the late 1800's and we noticed you mentioned there may be some somewhere. Any information you might be able to help with about the Hanify family would be very very appreciated Ken. Anyway we are new to this site so not sure if I will get a notification email to my home email if you get a chance to respond on this discussion board but will keep checking both. Take Care, thank you and the other generous contributors to this topic for the wonderful information we have gained already due to what must have been a lot of long hours spent researching. Deb and Grant. :)

Hi Deb & Grant,
I'm Alberta. My Husband's mother was a daughter of Mary Ann Hanify & Thomas Nangle.
Her grand parents were John Hanify & Ellen Sheridan.
Maybe I can help you in some way!!

Thats fantastic Alberta. I saw on another post that private emails were removed and an instruction was given to use a link....if that is possible please feel free to emial us through that link also might be more private if that is ok on one subject in particular.

Wow you just gave us some info of great interest, who Mary's husband was. Deb is related through her also we are fairly sure but hopefully there is a way to chat privately about that. We are new here and better read some more instructions on how that can happen unless you know?  Thanks again and yes I have no doubt you would help us greatly through your husbands mothers line. Deb and Grant.
