just found the marriage and she was Eliza Clara Randolph at marriage.
She is too young though to be the Eliza with Henry in 1841 :-\

Thanks for all the replies.  I have been searching Leonora for over 10 years and have some of the info., such as the Milverton family, and the Penelope in 1841 census of St Bartholemew.
Eliza Clara Randolph is new to me.  Your efforts are appreciated.

I recently looked again at Henry Orange Randolph and found in Gentlemen's Magazine and Trewman's Exeter Flying Post of 1835 -
" Oct 28th at Wickwar, at the house of his son-in-law, the Rev. Dr. Rees, James Randolph Esq., solicitor of Bath."      (Wickwar is 14 miles North of Bath).
I don't know where the funeral was, or if a local newspaper would have a list of mourners.
There seem to be several James Randolph, solicitor. The Law Society were no help.
A David Rees married Christian St. Barbe Randolph 13th March 1826 at Walcott, Somerset.
Christian St. Barbe Randolph is dau. of  (Sir?) James Randolph of Bristol who married Catherine St Barbe at Goochland Va. USA. (Ancestral File).

Leonora Standen was at 2 Little Albany Street, St Pancras in 1850 when son Harry Henry was born.
Henry Randolph was at 104 Little Albany Street, St. Pancras in 1851 Census.

There are many similarities of children's names between the Milverton/Taunton Randolphs, Henry Randolph and Leonora Randolph-Standen.  No Oranges.

So many clues but no absolute links.

Hi Bob,

As you will guess - rootschatters do like to keep going.
from those addresses, there does seem to be a link between Leonora and Henry - they could be cousins though I suppose. (Although both with fathers called James would make that a bit difficult  ::))
I have been trying to look for Rev Rees -this is the trouble, we tend to go off at a tangent and found this. Poor man seemed to be having a bit of a rough time:
http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=F6c9AAAAIAAJ&pg=PA275&lpg=PA275&dq=rev+david+rees+wickwar&source=bl&ots=zGsGqyGEJY&sig=F_pfadB7SkzG-GeKq-zFPH4j-20&hl=en&ei=c1AtSvbYBtLLjAfH6umcDg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1#PPA275,M1

There is a public tree on Ances. with the St Barbe/Randolph connection which does not seem to link in with Henry or Leonora.

Back to searching  :D

It may be that Henry was exaggerating a little with the occupation of his father  ???

As CaroleW says    'have you got the right baptism record for Leonora'.

    A very lateral thought -
If Leonora is not Eleanora, dau. of James Randolph, carpenter, and no alternative can be found, neither a bapt. of Henry (Orange) Randolph,  then could they both be from Virginia USA?.  Even though they both say born in Bath.   But not found in IGI   USA.

Or should I be looking at N. C. records of Bath?

Bob.

Well working from what you have:
**They both give Bath as their birthplace.
**You have marriage certificates for the ones you are talking about which give their fathers' names and occupations.

I think you should try Bath first.

I'll keep thinking.... ::)

Was James' occupation shown on Leonora's marriage certificate?

Marriage records.

There is no occupation entered for Leonora Penelope's father on her marriage cert. of 1848 at St. Mary's Marylebone, simply James Randolph, dec.

Henry Orange Randolph was also married at St. Mary's Marylebone, but in 1837,  and with father as James Randolph,  occupation 'solicitor'.
