I have just had word that the State Archives of NSW does indeed hold Hospital records form Liverpool Hospital, but alas only from 1859......my relative died in 1857...........so it is off to the State Library's wonderful Mitchell wing to look at the Benevolent Society records for me.

Cheers
Susie

Thanks for that link Cando but that would be the Thawa Rd cemetery.
The old Riverside cemetery is where most of my early relatives are buried and that is where there is a grave for  my ancestor.    I need to discover which cemetery he is actually buried in.    The info I got from the Liverpool Genealogical Soc. gave me some info which I was not expecting and led me to discover something else on the State Archives.  You see it is all a matter of my granfather having no father listed on his birth cert.  I am trying to prove without doubt that the person I am researching  is in fact my g grandfather.
Good Luck at the State Library Susie.

Thanks again Cando for your help.
The cemetery info I got some time ago but was stumped where to go till Susie gave the the Liverpool Genealogical Soc.   tip.    You see there are two graves for this person - one in Liverpool and one in Queanbeyan and I just don't know which one he is buried in so my thinking makes me  believe that I need to track down the undertakers for both burials and find out which one actually stuck him in the ground.   I just don't see my g grandmother paying out for a grave in Queanbeyan if he is not there.   She was not a rich lady. And the cemetery records in Qbn. don't give the name of the undertaker so I need to find the custodian of those early records.     I have the name of the undertaker in Liverpool but I think they are long gone.    Regards Dorliz

Hi Susie..
My GGG Grandfather Captn. Samuel Moore is buried in the Liverpool pioneer cemetery..
I called the Liverpool library to find out about it (about a year ago) and the woman was fantastic.. She told me the plot number and also posted the page and information about it..they have all the people alphabetically listed.. UNFORTUNATELY..the page I have starts at Long and finishes at Shea.  So I can't tell you if your ancestor is on the list.. but I think it is worth giving them a call!
Cheers

Hi Siouxsie,

I can see that you have an interest in the bowes family from Ulverstone and have a link to New South Wales.  I don't suppose that would be William T. Bowes would it ?

William T. Bowes is related to me and I understand emigrated to Australia, had a daughter 'Mrs Shephard' and at one stage was a mayor or councilor.

I don't know much more than that, but would be very interested in finding out.

Best Regards

Mark
