address deciphering please!
« on: Friday 05 June 09 00:32 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, this is my first post. I wondered if anyone can please help me read the address for MaryAnn Ryan on the following? Really can't work out the first street name:

Last of 24 Lower ????? Street, Manchester, but now residing at 64? Buckley Street, Manchester

Any suggestions welcome and appreciated!

Thanks  :)

Hi

It says:

"Late of 24 Lower Tebbutt Street, Manchester but now residing at 46 Buckley Street, Manchester"

Hi again

It's off Rochdale Road, at least today it is!  ;D
Google Tebbutt Street Manchester and you can see GoogleMap for the area as well as a Street View.

You're great, thanks so much for your help. That fits perfectly with where the rest of the family lived, so I'm sure that's spot on.

My only other dilemma address-wise is trying to find Monument Street in Miles Platting/Ancoats - I've been to Central Library and looked at old maps, but no joy. I think it went in the Ancoats area clearances.....

If anyone knows where Monument Street was/has it on a map, would love to see where it was! :)

Thanks again Ambly

It looks like 461 Buckley St, or am I seeing the downstroke of the B as the 1?

In a 1930s road atlas index Monument Street is shown as off Holland Street, Miles Platting, but is too small to show on the map.  Holland St is/was running NE from Butler St, by the Rochdale Canal, ending at a recreation ground.  Hope this helps.

That would be why I couldn't find it on the maps at Central Library Local Studies, I thought I was losing it.  ;D

Thanks Ainslie! that really helps :)
