Trying to verify the parents of Albert Hughes born1916/ 1917, Barnsley, Yorkshire. 

I have received different information from various sources stating that his parents were, Horace Hughes and Hetty Clegg.

After obtaining  a copy of Albert and Lily's  marriage certificate, it shows that his father was Robert Hughes.

Taken from his marriage certificate in  1935 Albert lived 8 Chapel Square, Worsborough.

How old was he on his marriage cert in 1935

Just for info - Horace & Hetty married in 1911 and did have a son Albert born in 1917 in Barnsley

Albert's age on marriage certificate was 20 but someone changed it to 19.

The registration posted by Pam above is the only one in Barnsley between 1914-1917 if you exclude the Hughes/Clegg Albert

There is no corresponding marriage in Barnsley between a Robert Hughes and a Powell so you are going to need a copy of the birth cert as suggested above

I would recommend you put a condition on your application that you only want it if fathers name was Robert

If it's the wrong Albert - the GRO will only charge a £3 search fee
