Samuel Lidgard
« on: Saturday 06 June 09 16:41 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,
I am trying to research Samuel Lidgard who was born in 1863 in Grimsby. His father was Nicholson Lidgard and the family moved to Gorton Manchester and they had a fish shop on Tibb Street, Manchester. In the 1911 census he is 48 and married to a lady called Gertrude who is 28! Two sons are listed at the house Samuel who was 21 and Charlie, my mother in law's father, who was 16. I am trying to find out who is first wife was, presumably she was the mother of the two sons.
Any more information on the family would be much appreciated.

Regards

Zappah

There is a marriage for Samuel Lidgard

Jun 1883, Manchester 8d/217

with possible spouse Catherine Creery or Agnes Garside.

In 1901 Samuel is already widowed with four children.

I'll go back to 1891 to see what i can find.

Jen

Hello Zappah

In 1901 Samuel is a widower with 4 children.  In 1891 he has 2 children, Samuel 2 and May 1 month, and is with wife Agnes.

This looks as though it could be their marriage and Agnes' death.

Marriages Jun 1883
CREERY  Catharine    Manchester  8d 217
Garside  Agnes     Manchester  8d 217
LIDGARD  Samuel     Manchester  8d 217

OWENS  William     Manchester  8d 217

Deaths Jun 1900   Lidgard  Agnes  37  Chorlton  8c 510

Would you like the census details?
