Writtle, Essex - Look up please
« on: Sunday 07 June 09 08:50 BST (UK) »
Hi, according to another tree i've come across on ancestry, my Great x 4 Grandmother Mary Ann Catherine Hall was born 1811 in Writtle.

I can't seem to find any record that confirms this so would be grateful for a second pair of eyes.

Mary married George Weston.

Many thanks

Hello Lisa,

On the Genes Reunited site there is a "tree owner" called Andrew who has the same Mary Hall in his tree.

Could be worth a punt.

Good luck,
Martin.

Hello Lisa,

Assuming the Weston family found by Jan is correct here they are again in 1841

HO 107/1122/8 Brighthelmstone, Brighton.

George Weston 30   Saddler    born in county
Mary          "    30
Frederick   "   13
Emma        "   11
George      "    9
Fanny        "    7       born in county
Eliza          "    5       born in county
Alfred         "   3       born in county

The first three children are born in and around Westminster, London.  This is only about 30 miles from Writtle.

Hi have had a quick look at the records and did not find mary but I will spend more time on them next week ,it's just possible she was baptised at Chelmsford as Writtle was close even in 1811,these days it all merges into one. I suspect there must have been a Army camp or something around there as how anybody keeps there tree intact with family at Writtle given the base borns in the records, you expect it at ports but not inland, another place just like Writtle is Rayleigh again around the same time there are suggestions that there were units of the Army who were paid off and lived rough on Daws Heath which is not far from Rayleigh, anyway will know more next week.
Best Regards

Hi Lisa,

Mary and George Weston are my 3xgrt grandparents. However....l have never been able to find her baptism or marriage. Which one of their children are your ancestors? Mine are from their son Alfred. Where did you find out her maiden name of Hall? That had me stumped too!!! Hope to hear from you.
regards

Hi, first of all, apologies to those that posted replies to this thread and i never came back to say thank you.  :-[

Hello Queenierud :)

My link to Mary and George is through their Daughter Emma b.1861

Emma married Henry Kipling, they had a Son Arthur, who is my Great Grandfather.

I can't remember how i found Mary's maiden name. I think it was via Ancestry.
Regards
