Hi Sarah
try to optimize your results on SP
as McBride is quite a common name in this area
although Clabby is'nt there are only about 5 Clabby marriages in the
whole of the renfrewshire area

there are three
IGI extracted births Port Glasgow
for the children of John McBride and Sarah Hattie
ranging from 1870 - 1874
which leaves quite a gap between them and Joseph's birth
so there may be more
variation of the name McBryde may also be useful
good luck

hi
 thank you Elaine so much
we were in Scotland just a couple of weeks ago looking for my grandmother because she had  an unusual name there were only three clabbys in the phone book, we did find in the mcintyre libary a family of clabbys living in greenock in belville street with a margaret shown as daughter aged 14 in the 1901 census  but i dont think this is her
thank you so much you have given me a great start
                                    regards Sarah

the link above only has a few Clabby's on it
the Belville street family and one in East William street
it is the death of a son  of James and Margaret
in 1899 this death cert would be on SP
if it is the right family it would give you an address
to start looking in the 1901 census
the three names in the phone book you found
if you PM with the names I could probably tell you if they
belong to the same family
