bookmarking :)

I tried National Archives with no luck, also Patterson's from Cornwall in 1901 census.

Snap on all your questions Fizzy :)

another question ............ what was a "cafe' in those days? was it a store/shop or was it like our coffee shops .... I see 'stuff' in the windows....

Great picture ...wish I had one like it.

Hi All,

Yes, Fizzy, she was Alice May Patterson - where did you find that?

Parents James and Ellen Gertrude (nee Mills)

Father's last occupation - labourer - died 1908 in Northumberland

I can only see one likely contender in 1911 and that one is in Northumberland - there are none in Cornwall.

Looking at the windows, Deb, I think maybe the one with the stuff in might belong to next door.

I'm wondering if the writing either side of 'The Cafe' might give some info but it's not too clear.  Maybe if I get the original back from my cousin it would show up with a magnifying glass but it is a bit blurred.

Christine

Hi Christine

Why not post the photo on the photo/restoration boards ...they may be able to clear up the writing and see all kind of clues we cannot see, they are fab over there ....really :) ....

Did your Pattersons marry into the Cooper family?

Hi Deb,

It's a thought.  I posted this photo here on an impulse and each time I look at it I wish I'd waited.  I have now 'mended' the tears and removed the pen mark but my software is just standard photoshop stuff and this would need something which would sharpen images much more than mine will - if one exists.

My cousin in currently in Spain so I will have to wait a couple of week to have a look at the original.
