Jones married Jones in Merionethshire??
« on: Friday 12 June 09 22:30 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone has access to parish records in Merionethshire?

I have my gt x 3 grandparents - Martha Jones (b. 1811 Gwyddelwern, Merioneth) marrying Robert Jones (b.1813 Llanfawr, Merioneth) in 1839.

They had 6 children, all born in Corwen, Merionethshire, including my gt x 2 grandmother, Jane Jones b 2nd May 1846 at the Eagles Inn, Corwen.

I seem to have come to a brick wall and can't seem to find any more information about them.
Who were their parents, did they have any siblings?
If anyone has any information that would be great!

I have looked on the IGI but can't seem to find either of them. Can anyone help?

Many Thanks

Hi

I have the parish records to 1812 but nothing for the 'gap'

Their marriage ref is:

June q, 1839, Corwen, vol 27 page 654

If you obtained this, it would at least say who their fathers were.

Thanks for that Gadget.

I have Robert's father as Ellis, who I believe was a farmer from Pentre Cwm? b 1785, but don't have his wife?

Haven't got a father for Martha?

I wonder if the farm in Pentre Cwm is still there?

Thanks.

I think we had a discussion about them a while back because of the similarity in names to my Joneses from Gwyddelwern  :)

I'll see if I can find Martha's parents tomorrow but I think it might be the marriage cert that is needed.

You could try looking on Google maps one of the other online maps for the farm.

For everyone's ease of reference,  here's a link to the beginning of the previous thread about some of the same people (July 2008 to -- so far -- May 2009),  in Merionethshire Lookup Requests.

See Replies 39 to 42 there (on page three) for details of the 1839 wedding at Gwyddelwern between Martha Jones and Robert,  son of Ellis Jones.  Ellis seems to have lived at the Pentre ['r] Cwm which lies towards the western end of Cwm Penanner in the parish of Cerrigydrudion.

(Would there be any merit in merging the two threads?)

Plus see also a new thread on the Wales General board discussing the location of Pentre ['r] Cwm: Added 28 July 2009.

Hi Rol  :)

Yes we've been through this before - hence my comment:

I think we had a discussion about them a while back because of the similarity in names to my Joneses from Gwyddelwern  :)

I was going to check for the previous thread today before I did any looking and I have already told Paul that we'd done it before   ;)

Are you Lloyd by any chance?

Hi Tracey  :)

If you need to check up on your previous questions on here, the easiest way to do it is to go to your profile and then click on 'show previous posts'. This will list all of your posts and you can then check to see what you've asked and go to the particular thread and see what responses that you've received.

New information can always crop up though and you would get notification of these.

Regards
