Hi

I presume you now have the marriage certificate, was it the Medway (Gillingham) one?  Who were the witnesses. Mothers are not normally named on English marriage certificates.

If it was the Medway marriage perhaps his father had a change of occupation and was also living on the Kentish coast.

The 1911 census index shows Minnie Annie in Medway Kent district with children
John Edward born circa 1898
William Robinson born circa 1899
Cyril Henry born circa 1902
Alfred Leonard born circa 1907
Frederick Charles born circa 1910

The actual census page would tell you Minnie Annie's status and whether she was a widow, or if not, John was away from home.

Hi moley

I'm not sure what records you are refering to and in what time period. On the 1901 census this Simmonds family were living in Gillingham Kent and on the 1911 census they were in the Medway district of Kent so probably still living in Gillingham.

After the 5 children shown on the 1911 census it seems likely other children's births to John and Minnie were also registered in Medway district, so in Medway/Gillingham area to at least 1915.

Births Dec 1911
Simmonds  Edith A  Lawrence  Medway  2a 1421

Births Dec 1914
SIMMONDS  Ivy M  Lawrence  Medway  2a 1390

Births Dec 1915
Simmonds  Eveline L  Lawrence  Medway  2a 1358

The birth registrations of the children shown on the 1911 census.

Births Mar 1898
Simmonds  John Edward    Medway  2a 656

Births Mar 1900
Simmonds  William Robinson     Medway  2a 683

Births Mar 1907
SIMMONDS  Alfred Leonard     Medway  2a 770

Births Sep 1909
SIMMONDS  Frederick Charles     Medway  2a 793

Are you sure this is the same Simmonds family you are interested in if you are interested in Simmonds who lived or were placed in a home in Southwark Surrey?
