Over the moon Adam ...... thanks very much George Milburn is my g.g.g.grandfather .... he remarried a Margaret in 1853 after Jane died but obviously was buried with his first wife in Crook.

Just got to find the cemetery in Crook now.

Thanks again
Jean

Hello Jean. There is not a gravestone at Crook, Stanley Crook, Willington, or even Tow law for Jane or George Milburn.
Have done them also.

Ahhhh.......  Jane died at Crook but the death cert says 'sub district of Hamsterley'  they previously lived at Evenwood ......... have you any idea where they would be buried?

You've opened a few doors Adam with these inscriptions.

I've been looking to see which son married 'Barbara' the daughter in law and I think it looks like William in 1855 ..... as I couldn't find him ..... no wonder ... the marriage was in south shields ........I didn't think of looking for him there.

This is great...

Just thinking .... it must be Evenwood

Hi Adam,
Thanks so much for this inscriptions.  Now I have to figure out how everyone fits into my tree.  They are not the Charltons that I have but probably related.  Same with Davison.
thanks again for your help

Hello Lazarus. Here is the one from St Helen, West Auckland.
This one has been damaged/weathered so only part is readable
:- In memory of Thomas Langstaff late of West Auckland who departed this life 1st day of February ????? age 49 years.
Also William Langstaff who died ???? 1805 aged ?????.
Also Mary Langstaff wife of Michael Langstaff who died June/24/1810 (could be 1840) age 41 years.
Also Michael Langstaff who died April/18/1850 age 85 years.

Here is another Langstaff from Hamsterley, St James, three or four miles away that may be of interest.
:- To the memory of George Langstaff of Butterknowle who died October/13/1787 age 65 years.
Also of Elizabeth his second wife who departed this life May/17/1806 age 78 years.

Thank you Adam
Whilst I expect that most of my Langstaff/Longstaff are buried at St Andrews, your data is helping me sort the various pedigrees.
My group appear to be mainly butchers and innkeepers.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Adam,
Thank you for the Charlton, Cummin, etc inscriptions. I would also be interested in Bell, if you would be so kind.

Hello Peggy. Here they are:-

In memory of Sarah Atkinson late of West Auckland who died March/16/1830 age 30 years.
Also Thomas Atkinson husband of the above died January/25/1855 age 79 years.
Also Robert Bell of West Auckland who died September/15/1877 aged 55 years (long verse followed by)
Also Lancelot son of the above named Robert and Frances Bell who died August/29/1852 age 4 years.

In memory of Elizabeth Ann the beloved daughter of Metcalfe and Ann Bell of Gordon, who died march/20/1868 age 15 years.

I think "Gordon" may be between Toft Hill and the Slack.
I know there was a Gordon pit around that area.
