does anyone have bdm tasmania around 1833 looking for any Faux  BD or marriages .anytime at all

Hi this is the only one I have available but can find this name on it.

I do have the Tasmania Pioneer index 1803-1899 but the stupid CD wont load on my computer??

Hi gene

This may be a little off topic because it does not concern a BDM but i thought i would mention it because the year 1833 that you mention coincides and it does not seem to have been mentioned here before(?).

Also, your previous post here: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,271313.0.html suggests it might not be irrelevant. :)


There is mention in the Hobart Town Courier of the 19th April, 1833, in Government Notice no. 103, of a convict named "John Gregory, Alias Faux" who is listed as having received a conditional pardon.

Further investigation suggests that he is probably the John Gregory, Alias Faux who was transported to VDL aboard the Juliana, which sailed in September, 1820.  He was convicted at the Devon Assizes on the 13th March 1820 and was transported for fourteen years.

I notice that in the post that i have referred to above, that the father of William Faux is supposed to be John Faux or Fox.

I hope that this is of some help(and not just a red herring  :-[).
