Still Births
« on: Tuesday 16 June 09 10:49 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know how to trace/confirm a still birth. I have a birth date,25/12/1964 and a burial date 29/12/1964. "Its" parents were Frederick and Hilda Leach, and "it" was buried with an adult, probably a stranger. Whether "it" had a name or a gender I don't know.
Any one out there have any ideas ?

Hello

Do you know where the child was born.?

If you look at deaths for the quarter for Jan/Feb/March 1965 there are two deaths for children with the name Leach
Brent  in Littleboro      Age 0
Anthony Surrey           Age 0

Sylvia

     Slyvia,
Thanks very much, but the deaths were in Bletchley, which of course is now Milton Keynes, the place with the concrete cows.

  Hi Rachel,
Thanks for the information. The "it" referred to would be my Aunt or Uncle, so I will ring up and hope for the best.

This does not sound like a stillbirth to me.
More likely the infant died after a few hours or days.
If so the birth and death should be registered as normal.
Cheers

Certainly for almost 100 years in NZ it has been compulsory to register a stillbirth, which doesn't help with Milton Keynes I know  ::)
Family member has very recently experienced some insensitivity from our BDM querying  information provided on her form

My aunt gave birth to a son who lived only a few hours, this is the certificate issued to her. Notice how still birth is cross out. just thought it might interest some one. Joy
