MCINTYRE Alan

Hi there,

just wondering if anyone could find the birth of Alan MCINTYRE born 1875. His father was Duncan MCINTYRE. The information on Alan MCINTYRE is that he married Mary Bayes FLAVEL in her mother's house at LOCHABER, near NARACOORTE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA. I have all of Alan's children as he is my grandfather. I would like to know more about his parents and any siblings that they had if possible.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Legs

This is looking tricky. There is more than 1 Duncan McINTYRE. I don't see a birth for Alan in SA, so will try to work my way through it.

At present I suspect these are the deaths for his parents.

McINTYRE Mary Ann died 2 Jan 1917 Hd of Hynam Dist Rob 407 67 she was aged 69, married, residence hd of Hynam. Relative Duncan McIntyre husband

McINTYRE Duncan died 29 Apr 1919 Hynam Dist Rob 427 441, He was aged 71 Married, Residence Nr Naracorte. Relative not recorded.

So looks like this entry from BISA - unfortunately not terribly helpful. There is no entry for Alan.

McINTYRE Duncan born about 1848 Arl Scotland died about 10 May 1919 Naracoorte SA arrived 1853 residence Naracoorte
married 1870 SA unknown who died circa 1917 children 4 daughters and 3 sons

More problems I am afraid, I can't find the marriage and I can find only 2 births. There is another Duncan McINTRYRE = Mary Elizabeth CUNNINGHAM about the right time and they have quite a few children. (including an unnamed son in 1875) This Duncan has a BISA entry suggesting he was born in SA so not the same couple. They are in Kapunda and looks like some births list mother as ABBOTT 

Here are the two births I found which I suspect may be births to the Naracoorte couple

MACINTYRE Sarah 28 Feb 1871 Glenburnie Dist Gre 93 150 parents Duncan MACINTYRE and Mary LAMAN

McINTYRE Duncan 17 Jul 1886 Wild Dog Valley Dist Wel 379 393 parents Duncan McINTYRE and Mary Ann LAMMOUNT (He certainly married in Naracoorte)

Listed with father Duncan - There is a Donald marries at Res of Duncan McINTYRE Naracoorte in 1914 - He is 34. An Isabel marries in Mt Gambier aged 21 in 1902. Jessie 19 marries at her fathers residence Hynam in 1902

I wonder if there may be some events listed over the border

I have found a couple of births in Victoria

Jane McINTYRE Ca St Victoria 1878/7670 parents Duncan and Mary LAMOND
Jessie McINTYRE Eden Victoria 1881/23082 parents Duncan and Mary LAMMOUNT

We now have enough names to match what the BISA says at least

Looks like she may be Sarah McMillan/McMullen - they had family in Mt Gambier.

Thanks for this information that you have found. While it may not be conclusive, it has given me some other avenues to try. I will pass this information on to my mother and see if any names ring a bell with her. The towns that you mentioned are not that far from Naracoorte so it is possible that they are related.
