Not that Charles BELL ... this Charles BELL
« on: Thursday 18 June 09 10:34 BST (UK) »
Charles Bell born Exeter 1848 died 1908 at Granville NSW and was aged 60.
His DC states that his 'time in the colony' was 27 years (arrived 1881).
Now ..... how is this figure arrived at?
I know that another Charles Bell born London 1848 arrived 1881 complete with family on the Talavera and they are unrelated.
Charles Bell born Exeter did arrive in Australia sometime after the 1861 UK census but no indication as to when he arrived has been unearthed.
He was a ship's engineer and he married  in Sydney in 1883.

joboy, that figure is a figure given by whoever the informant registering his death was. So like other information on death certificates, it may or may not be accurate.  :-\
