Alfred Knight 1851 look up
« on: Thursday 18 June 09 19:19 BST (UK) »
Can anyone find Alfred William Knight in 1851?  He is not with parents Timothy and Mary and sister Frances who are in Wivelsfield. HO107 1643 19 7
He was born in Wivelsfield (birth registered in Lewes in March 1846)  He appears in later census but I cannot find him in 1851.
Thanks

Hi afossil

Have you tried looking at the home of his grandparents on his mums side - maybe he had gone there for a couple of days or was even living there temporary as many children did in the 1800's

Just my thoughts

Could he be the 5 yr old William Knight, born Wivelsfield, a visitor in the H/H of Thomas and MAry Baldock in Wivelsfield at HO107 1643 6 4 ?

Yes, I had also spotted that after scrolling through the pages of the census in that area and doing a search on his other forename - that is why I suggested that it could have been his grandparent as they are a middle aged couple (49 & 50) - but not knowing their name??

Thought it was a non starter as I found a William Knight in later census as well as my Alfred but I see he is with his family in 1851 (Abraham etc) so that means the one with Thomas Baldock could be mine.  Just need to find the connection with a baptist minister now!
