Divorce NSW Aust - A.E.W.C. NEW
« on: Friday 19 June 09 06:02 BST (UK) »
I was wondering if there was any site to search for a possible divorce for Albert Edward William Charles New and Elsie Fay New (nee Yealland) married 1924 Marrickville, Sydney.

The divorce could have occurred any time from around 1945 onwards.

Hello,

Wecome to Rootschat

There is an online search available in NSW fordivorce records 1873-1930

http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/state-archives/indexes-online/court-records/index-to-divorce-case-papers/

This does not cover the time frame but the inforamtion pages may have some details on how to find later records.

regards

Can't help you with the divorce, but it looks as if she may have  married again

20520/1949  ROGERS,  JAMES FRANCIS to   NEW,  FAY ELSIE @ MANLY

Another possible....Though if you are certain that your time frame is after 1945, maybe not??

28476/1941  FREESTONE,  RONALD  TOM, to NEW,  ELSIE @ WOOLLAHRA

Sue,

thanks for this, yes I know about this one, Fay Elsie, this is his daughter.

The 1941 registration is interesting, not sure if that is the right Elsie New , as far as I know, Albert & Elsie were still together until the end of the 2nd World War.

Regards

Hi
You may learn a little more about ROnald Tom FREESTONE by looking at his ww2 digitised naval record.

He was mobilised in 1940 and gives his wife ELSIE as Next of Kin then, Yet the marriage is registerd 1941 ???

There are addresses and birthdates etc,  which may help you to eliminate him

Sue I see it noted on his file after Elsie's name and address, as 15.1.1942.  Address is C/- Mrs N New, Razorback, Picton NSW.

I would  have to add  that you might be able to rule out  the marriage  to  Ronald Freestone  as he was born in 1917.

If Elsie Fay married in 1924 to Albert New, it would make her considerable older  than Ronald Freestone.

Not impossible of course,  however I  did  note  Albert Edward and Elsie New together on  the 1930 and 1936 Electoral Rolls.

I also noted an Elsie New on  the 1936 roll living at Razorback, Picton, NSW which could very well be  the one who married Ronald Freestone.
