i would also like to find the date this John was born if possible, spent a lot of time looking , but not success as yet. i guess if i find the marriage date it might be easier.

the john gow that  married margaret cruickshank, well  their  first child was born 1775 children john, margaret, james, william, alexander and  robert.all born dallas ,moray, scotland.

while i am here ,i think this is a great place to be looking at with heaps of information to be found, i appreciate the time the people have put into this site.and to the helpers that come up with our answers thanks.

hi pearldawn  :)

looking at the batch number for marriages at dallas moray(m111292)
they seem to run 1749 - 1752 then 1774 - 1785 so the marriage maybe missing
there is however 2 other gow marriages which maybe the same family-

alexander mcrobbie to janet gow 31st march 1778 dallas
james gow to janet roy 18th december 1776 dallas

I would suggest looking for a headstone here:
http://www.mbgrg.org/ancestor_intro.shtml

I've had a quick look and didn't see anything obvious, but you might find it useful in the future.
