Im hoping that someone could decipher what occupation this is. Its from an 1852 birth certificate.

Looks like Perfumer to me.

thanks, thats what I thought but my mum thought it was something else possibly policeman as we had a lot of policemen in the family

oh and Mum thought it odd that a perfumer lived in Manchester

The occupation of Perfumer often went hand in hand with Hairdresser.  I have seen "Hairdresser and Perfumer" several times whilst transcribing.

Thank you, it says on the census he was a hairdresser :) so it all makes sense lol
