parish register query

Hi, I have a copy of a baptism which took place in 1882 . At the end of the details is the letter P.
Can anyone explain what this would mean?

Probably stood for 'Privately' I would think.  I.e. not baptised at a public service in front of a congregation but likely to have been done at home for a possibly sickly child.

This was equal to a baptism which took place in a Church and would have been entered into the register.
