best to give the Census Refn and/or full name and vital stats in these cases .... so that the original can be viewed.

I'd say he was an 'Under Keeper' - ie a lesser grade than a full Keeper - probably Game ..

I'd say he was an 'Under Keeper' - ie a lesser grade than a full Keeper - probably Game ..

That looks possible, the Enumerator used quite a flourish for Ws which is not present in that word.

He's an AgLab in 1851 I think HO107/1756/451/14 (COLLYER)

Its clearer on the original image - 'crossed out' by the analysis clerks back in head office, not a correction by the Enumerator IMHO  :)

I agree, crossing out often occurs when the enumerator uses an occupation that is not on the official list,
