I was fortunate to go there earlier this year, when I was on a holiday stopover. I only had a few hours to get there and hopefully find my man. He was Wilfred Collins, who was my grandmother’s first husband, and although I was not directly related to him. Somehow I thought it was opportunity I shouldn’t miss.
I was lucky and found Wilf. He was a flight sergeant on an RAF Mark VI Liberator of 203 Squadron, which was shot down on 20th March 1945 over the Sumatra. Of the ten airmen, three men made it to shore, two were captured and taken as POW’s, and the other airman died on the beach. The remaining seven were never found, including Wilf.
Sometimes I think if this hadn’t of happened my grandmother would have never remarried, subsequently had my father, and I wouldn’t have existed - weird!

Anyway I took a few photos around the cemetery, and after reading your post here they are.. ( and hopefully they are the right size, had a few problems in the past!)
