Was Kate WILLIS transported to Australia
« on: Wednesday 24 June 09 18:20 BST (UK) »
Hi good folks,

I am clutching at straws but.. would anyone know about a Kate Willis nee Drennan and two children William and Ann that disappear completely from records after 1901 census no birth, marriage or death records can i find!

Kate and James Willis (husband) with three children Ann c1888, William c1897 and Philip 1899 i have found on the 1901 census living at 7 back of 19 Warwick Street, Aston, Birmingham (birth certificate of Philip states mother and father Kate and James). Then in 1911 census James is married to Jane (for only 9 years) and Philip is with them aged 11 obviously a step mother (if James and Jane were married) as i can not find any record of this either. The 1911 census states James only had one child born alive and one child living.

I am wondering if Kate and the two children (maybe from a previous relationship) were transported to Australia and how would i find out?

Any reason for thinking they were transported to Australia?

Note: the phase "transported to Australia" usually means convicts which won't apply in this case
Jeffs - Northamptonshire to Leicestershire to Queensland, Australia
Lewis - Wales to Gloucestershire to NSW & Queensland, Australia
Iddols & Baylis - Gloucestershire
Mary Jones, daughter of James Jones and Eliza - born abt 1864 Staffordshire, died 1948 Queensland, Australia
Dorans - Ireland to Scotland to Queensland, Australia
Ralph - Ireland to Scotland to Queensland, Australia
Jillett - Robert, Transported Convict from Surrey
Christison - Edinburgh,Scotland
Cameron - Edinburgh, Scotland

I  didn't wish  to be rude but are you  sure you  have  found the  right family in  the 1911 census?

Hello,

Do you know what her parents full names were?

Thre was a death for a Catherine Willis nee Drennan in the Victorian BDM's but s cross check found this ladies birth in Victoria  to the parents listed  so could be ruled out. There a  couple of possibilities in NSW

http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search?event=births

But nothing seems to match the two children

regards

Robyn
