Edward Edwards from Halkyn
« on: Thursday 25 June 09 19:14 BST (UK) »
My 2x great grandfather appears on various Liverpool census as being born in Halkyn 1827. On his marriage cert (to Catherine) he says his father is John Edwards a farmer. There is a baptism for an Edward Edwards in Halkyn in 1827 but his father is a shoemaker and that Edward is still with the family in Wales when my Edward is already in Liverpool married. Can anyone suggest a way round this problem? Was he telling porky pies or forgetful or born in Halkyn but christened somewhere else or not baptised at all?

Thanks for the help. Could be. Will investigate further. Think I got the Halkyn baptisms through UKBMD, IGI or Genuki...can't remember now.

Unfortunately this family still have Edward Edwards with them in 1851. Mine was already in Liverpool with his wife Catherine and daughter Mary. Still, thanks for trying. I have searched most census pretty thoroughly over the years and also baptism/marriages online aswell as sending for the Halkyn church reg transcripts from the local FHS; nothing doing.

Can you give us the full reference to them in 1851 - I couldn't find them when I had a quick look earlier on.

It was a quick look but I'd like the reference, please  :)
