Does he say he was b. Halkyn in all the later censuses?

Yes, from 1850 through to 1871 (he died in 1878) he says born Halkyn, Flintshire 1827 on every one. I've just discovered on FreeReg that an Edward Edwards 1827 was born to John and Elizabeth who lived in Halkyn but had their children christened at Chester Road Methodist, Holywell, Flint (presumably actually Flintshire) with siblings Jane (x3  1823/4 so I presume 2 died) and Robert 1829 but I am now trying the census info to locate the family. Is anyone out there related and studying the same tree from a different perspective?

Forgot to add that the John Edwards spouse of Elizabeth is a miner, not a farmer but people do change jobs so maybe...?

Yep that's the one that I spotted before I found the farmer:

The one in Halkyn has father John who is a miner  :-\

I'm doubtful that it is the correct one. A miner in 1841 and a farmer at his son's marriage. It usually went the other way.

If we can't find anyone more likely, I'm starting to think that the father, John, might have been a convenient name  :-\  It happens on many marriage certs - including some of mine.

Alternatively, the family might have  moved away from the area or John was dead by 1841. Is there any indication of the marriage cert as to whether John Edwards was deceased?

No, John is not stated as deceased on the marriage cert. There are two mining John Edwards in Halkyn, one married to Mary Ann, who still have their Edward wih them in 1850 and one married to Elizabeth whom I can't find.

I couldn't see a baptism for an Edward Edwards father John in Holywell 1825-1830 :(

There is a marriage for a John Edwards to an Elizabeth Roberts in Halkyn 1821 :-\

Paul.

YES! Well done you! One of the baptisms I found had the mother as Elizabeth Roberts! Can you give details? The baptisms are as follows;
IGI; Batch number C098401 Chester Road Wesleyan Methodist Holywell Flint
b 20 May 1829 chr 26 May 1829 Robert Edwards mother Elizabeth Roberts not on FreeReg
chr 20 Feb 1827 Edward (FreeReg the abode is Halkin Parish and the father John is a miner) no mother's surname
and then 3x Jane likewise for 1823 and 4
What do you think? Am I just wishing this to be the same family? Can anyone find them on the census?

Elizabeth Roberts(x) o.t.p. Spinster. d/o. Robert Roberts. Miner. and Margaret Bulkeley? his wife.

The only baptism I could see for John Edwards & Elizabeth Roberts in Halkyn to 1830.

After that did they go Chapel?  :-\
