« on: Friday 26 June 09 22:00 BST (UK) »
Hi,
anyone out there got any connections or info on the Bayliss family of Rossett and its environs?

Any information or pointers would help me out greatly especially if you have access to a copy of Rossett MI's  ;D

Checkout my tree on tribal pages http://theshepherdtree.tribalpages.com and search on Bayliss.

Thank you all in advance

Shep.

Hi Paul,
burial locations, marriage details, any old maps of Rossett / Allington etc.

Just trying to put together a picture of the family for my mother-in-law. Her grandmother was Louisa Bayliss b1884 the first of 16 children (10 of which I've found). I assume with that many kids they spread far and wide but must have left some mark on Rossett / Allington / Pulford.

cheers

I can check Rossett parish registers. Are the 10 siblings of Louisa you found all baptised rossett?

Paul.

I found 2 baptisms in Christ Church Rosset but prior to those they lived in Pulford.

I reckon 1895 onwards they were in Rossett. I found Cecil James bapt 1898 and Frank Earnest bapt 1899. Could you check for any after that particularly Gwendoline May 1901 and Douglas 1904?

I got the total of 16 births off the 1911 census but have only tracked 10 children down. The other six could be anywhere between Chester / Pulford  / Rossett from 1884 onwards  suppose.

I do have a picture of Rose Cottage in Rossett Green but don't know its location so can't check if it's still there.

Hello Shep
Rossett baptisms.
Oct 27 1901. Gwendoline. d/o James & Annie Bayliss. abode, Rossett. Fathers Occ, Painter.
Aug 7 1904. Douglas. s/o James & Annie Bayliss. abode, Rose Cottage. fathers Occ, Painter & Decorator.

I came a cross a couple of marriages 1889 Charles Bayliss to Mary Elizabeth Finchett... and... 1907 Ernest Edwards to Louisa Bayliss.
Do you have them?

Paul.

Many many thanks for that info Andy.

The Aug 7 1904 baptism surprised me for Douglas as his birth wasn't registered until the last quarter of 1904.

Ernest and Louisa are my wifes Great Grandparents. I don't think Charles and Mary are connected (not yet anyway).

My hunt for the six missing siblings continues .....
