New Zealand papers on line
« on: Friday 26 June 09 22:40 BST (UK) »
http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast

I  noticed  this  link on a thread yesterday  posted by Jorose

I  thought it would be of interest  to  my  fellow Australian Rootschatters who may  not have seen  it.

As  we know  with our researching a lot of folk  who arrived in  Australia went on  to New Zealand.

I  found a number of  relations, all  very  interesting especially  Mr Edsall and Disraeli.

I  have  posted  this  to  the  general board as more researchers will initially  see it  rather  than  the Resources  board to start off with.  Jenn

Thanks Jenn

Went in and found the death notice for Thomas Dillon Smith that has been subject of discussion on the NZ board.

Off to do a bit more searching, very helpful.

Hi Jenn    :)

Yes ... our wonderful PapersPast website has recently had an upgrade !

Previously only a small number of newspapers had been fully "searchable" (with others able to be "browsed" using a search " by date").

SO  ... now ALL newspapers are FULLY searchable ... some new titles have been added ... and "years searchable" (for some papers) has been extended.

And for those who have looked previously at the site, and not had much luck  .... it's certainly well worth another visit !   :)

There are many articles from Australia in these old papers. So even for ancestors or events or places in Australia, it is worth checking paperspast.
For example: Wollongong, 1929 results; Perth, 67508 results.
You could try, for example, (someone's name) Perth, and you might get a result.
