Sands Directories, 1932/3 show a
Fred SWINNERTON, 20 Raymond Rd, Neutral Bay NSW

Electoral Rolls
1930 Fred Pilkington (clerk) and Rose Mary (home duties) SWINNERTON at 218 Addison Rd, Sydenham

1936 Fred Pilkington (clerk) and Rose Mary (home duties) SWINNERTON at 93 Hayberry St, Crows Nest NSW

(The rolls I have access to only have 1930 and 1936 for Sydney)  None of this helps in finding Rose and Fred's marriage.

Hi Guy's,

Many thanks for the replies to my posting.  All what has been posted is about the same Fred and
Rose Swinnerton.  Fred gave another place of birth when he signed up for WW1.  Birmingham England  is the correct area.
As for the marriage it is nowhere to be found.
Am I right in saying the birth certificate of any children will give marriage details? when and where.

Thanks
Swinno

Did you notice in his dossier at NAA that Fred enlisted 21 Sep 1914, in Melbourne?
Maybe they married there...?

If that's a welcome to me then thank you, that's lovely!  :D

I also just saw this in the NSW BDM index:

16123/1914 - [death] Marie R SWINNERTON (f: Fred, m: Rose M).

The large ref no. suggests to me it's later in the year, at which time Fred was supposed to be enlisting in Melbourne and then away at war.

If she's definitely a daughter, I wonder where Marie R was born? Her birth must have been close to the marriage, so would it be worth getting the death cert to find her birthplace (as maybe a lead to find the location of marriage)? (Maybe a transcription?)

And in answer to your earlier question  :D , I have NSW birth certs in the late 1800s & they show the date and place of the parents' marriage.

I don't know whether it's a help or a hindrance ... I just tried the Victorian BDMs search, using just "Swinnerton", no other details other than the date range 1912-1914, and although I couldn't view the results, the search threw up two results on one page.  It costs 99 cents (Au) to view them online, I gather (LOL and my paltry little credit card's maxed out!).  So I couldn't tell whether they were relevant, or not  :-\
I live in Sydney, Australia, and I'm researching: Powell, Tatham, Dunbar, Dixon, Mackwood, Kinnear, Mitchell, Morgan, Delves, & Anderson

Hello  there Deb D

I  did  check  the Victoria Indexs  and no marriage showing for them.  There are a few Swinnerton's but not  the one wanted :)
